It has been a real honour and privilege to be able to participate in this Receptionist of the Year Competition, one in which I never thought I would have the opportunity to represent my hotel in. This entire journey has truly been a once in a lifetime experience for me in which I truly felt have not only enabled me to further expand and develop my skills and knowledge in this scheme of work I am doing, but provided me with the extra confidence and appropriate mindset when handling different types of guest requests and complaints. Furthermore, I am thankful to have met the participants from the different hotels in this ROTY competition who have made this entire journey a fun-filled and unforgettable one.
None of this would have been possible without the guidance and support from my Mandarin Oriental family, especially Ian and Yiming who have guided me through this entire journey, providing me with all the valuable insights and advice that they’ve garnered during their past ROTY journeys and experiences within this industry. I am also extremely grateful to be part of a front office team with highly motivated, talented and helpful colleagues who have allowed me to become better at what I do. Last but not least, I would like to convey my sincere thanks to the ROTY committee and the ARDE for organizing all the workshops and masterclasses which has honed my technical and interpersonal skills and knowledge that I will be able to utilize throughout my hospitality career. All in all, I am extremely grateful to have made it through to the end of this competition and to be part of this platform that could propel me to greater heights in my hospitality career- it has truly been an eye-opening experience for me.
